Run
Comments: Time wise, worse marathon by far, but I knew that going in. I had some significant achilles problems before training started and was late to the first 6 weeks. I did some peptide therapy, which worked a miracle, but it put me behind by the time it began working. My longest run was 15 miles, so I knew this would be a marathon for fun and just to enjoy the venue and sights. Mission accomplished. By half marathon, I was doing the walk/run, but still enjoyed myself. This was my 30th marathon and 30th year of doing marathons, so if this one turned out to be my last, I was ok with that. We'll see. Still some achilles and back problems to overcome, but never say never. Mary was at the finish in the stadium! We were close enough to walk back to the hotel, which finished our day, except for dinner. Not much to report during the run, except for hearing BRAVO about 1000 times, which was very cool. Greece was spectacular as a vacation. What would you do differently?: Being injured at the beginning of training was beyond my control. As far as the race itself, nothing. Post race
Warm down: Walk back to hotel. What limited your ability to perform faster: Injuried. Event comments: As a marathon runner, this should be on every bucket list. It's a spectacular destination, fun, and worth the trip. Greece is super affordable, with plenty to do and see. Last updated: 2024-12-15 12:00 AM
