Swim
Comments: Went to the far outside as suggested by so many people. Probably too far though I think I swam an extra 100m or so trying to get to the first bouy. What would you do differently?: Practice OWS more often. The chop totally took away my ability to freestyle, had to breast-stroke. Also I didn't factor in time spent wading out to the point that you start swimming. Transition 1
Comments: The transition area was at least 500m away from the beach. I didn't anticipate that, it probably doubled my transition time. My bike was too tall for the racks that they had. I was glad that my hybrid still has a kickstand. What would you do differently?: Move from water to transition area faster. Practice leaving the water and getting going right away. Bike
Comments: My bike is a clydesdale. I didn't go as fast as I could have, I was worried about the run. What would you do differently?: Get a tri bike. Race a littlew harder. Check my shoes...My cleats were loose. Luckily they didn't fall off. Transition 2
Comments: Un-did my shoes at the end of the last lap, but left them on. In the transition I just slipped out of them and into my running shoes. What would you do differently?: I have to practice some of the different ideas and find what works best for me. Run
Comments: I got a little lonely on the back half of the course and my motivation slipped a little. I found a few people to run with at the halfway point and that helped. What would you do differently?: Push myself when I'm by myself Post race
Warm down: Drink of water, hugs from my family and friends. A minuite alone to thank myself for not giving up. A little stretching, my left hamstring cramped up so I drank a little gatorade. What limited your ability to perform faster: Definately my big fat heavy horse of a bike. OH YEAH, and I am slow! Plenty of room for improvement Event comments: I had fun. I didn't realize it until the second lap on the bike, but I hasd a great time. Last updated: 2006-09-10 12:00 AM

As I was packing my gear into my van, I stepped in an anthill. I got bit a few times on my feet and ankles, so I was stressed out before I even left the house. The drive there was quiet and very relaxing, about 45 minuites. When we got there we checked in, got our numbers, champion chips, and body markings. Went into the transition area to set up and stretch out. My wife wanted to take pictures and my kids wanted a hundred hugs and kisses(not a problem) Race Director speaks, then it's a long walk to the beach.
I ran around for a few mins. near the transition area, then on the beach I went into the water to test water temp, goggles, swim cap(first time in one)current, waves, and also got about a 2min warmup swim in.
