![]() Swim
Comments: Swim was an interesting set up. Ended up being in the second fastest heat. I was the last person to go in my lane and ended up passing both of the guys in front of me. Strong performance for me. Ended up beating the estimated time I submitted. What would you do differently?: Nothing. ![]() Transition 1
Comments: Run to T1 was up a sidewalk ramp and through the parking lot. Since there was a lot of "nature" on the ground, I put my Keens poolside and slipped them on. Ended up working out great since I didn't have all of the dirt, rocks and leaves on my feet (or have to worry about washing them off). First time I've ever done that, but ended up working out in this situation. What would you do differently?: Nothing ![]() Bike
Comments: Would have liked to have a faster bike time, but was happy with my performance. What would you do differently?: Push harder and ride some hills prior to the race. ![]() Transition 2
Comments: Since TA was set up incorrectly (see comments at the end of the race), I had to run to the far end with my bike. Did race with no socks and worked out well. Grabbed my visor and switched to my sneakers and I was off. What would you do differently?: Nothing ![]() Run
Comments: Run course was pretty challenging. There were some pretty decent hills and no water stations. Ended up not walking, which I was happy with. Foot pain was minimal and I felt much better on the second lap. What would you do differently?: More bricks. ![]() Post race
Warm down: Drank some water and talked to Joe and Regina a bit. I was late meeting a friend from work so I packed my car and was on my way. What limited your ability to perform faster: Lack of any real recent training. Event comments: Race was OK for being in the second year. There is room for definite improvement though: - No chip timing...no big deal, but it's nice to have - Transition area was set up wrong. Swim entrance was at the far end compared to where my bike was. Bike out, bike in and run out were all out of the same section, right across from the swim entrance. A high traffic area and very unsafe (on top of being unfair) - No water stops on the run - Spectators carelessly walking around the TA when I was coming in off of my bike - Not a huge fan of multiple loop bike and run course (this one was 3 loops on the bike and 2 on the run) Probably wouldn't do the race again unless the major issues I had were remedied. Was nice to do and support a local race. Last updated: 2006-09-12 12:00 AM

Woke up at 5am to try to register for Eagleman and load the car.
Made a PB&J sandwich which I ate on the way. Also stopped and got a coffee for the ride. Was about a 45 minute drive to the race site. Since I didn't do packet pick up Saturday, I was there a little early to take care of that.
Got body marked and set up transition area. TA was in a small parking lot with 4 people to a spot (no racks). Since I was there early, I was able to lean my bike against the fence.
A lot of waiting and waiting. I got to the race site at 6:45am and the race was scheduled to start at 8am. It ended up starting at around 8:30am.
Ate a GU around 7:45 before heading to the pool to watch the first few heats of swimmers. Ended up meeting fellow BT-ers there, Joe and Regina, who I ended up talking to and hanging out with before the race started.
