Swim
Comments: The swim was pretty good for me. Usually I have a little panic about the whole thing but not this time. The crowd didn't bother me at all.I kept focusing on people in front of me and tried to pass them. I'm not sure how my time will be but I believe it was my best swim ever. What would you do differently?: I should have got to the water earlier to swim a little. Once the pre-race meeting started they never let folks back in the water. I would have like to have my blood pumping a little more for the start. Transition 1
Comments: Good for me. A little problem getting the suit off but nothing too bad. What would you do differently?: Not much Bike
Comments: It takes a while for my legs to warm up coming out of the water. Maybe a better rub down from the towel would prevent the cold effect of the evaporation. My bike is not made for the hills. I hit them hard and overall did pretty well on them. I was staying right with some pretty hardcore bikers. On the downhills I made up some time on most folks. I find if you sing Iron Maiden tunes real loud, the downhills are a lot of fun. What would you do differently?: Not much, other than more bricks in training. Need to get up to speed a little quicker. I also need to practice using my water bottles. Most of my training I take a camel back so I'm not used to them. Transition 2
Run
Comments: I was hoping to do better on the run. I felt tight the whole time and never got to let loose. I had bought some quick tie elastic laces and I didn't like them. My shoes never felt comfortable. I'm not sure if it was the laces or the bike beforehand but my feet felt tight most of the time, they were even falling asleep at times. What would you do differently?: More bricks, bricks, and bricks. The elastic laces are gone. I'll make up the 20 seconds it take to tie them on the run. Post race
Warm down: Nice little post race buffet. Bannanas, break, PB, and Strawberry shortcake. Stretched a little but wasn't tight after the race. What limited your ability to perform faster: This was stupid I admit, but I went out drinking and dancing till 2:00 on Friday. I still felt some of the effects, but I had a helluva good time. Need to fix my laces and get in a brick this week prior to Black Diamond. Event comments: It was a real nice race. Over a thousand folks and they kept everything running real smooth. I couldn't believe the amount of volunteers they had out. Kirkland is a busy little town, especially on the weekends. The voluteers did a great job of keeping traffic at bay.
