Run
Comments: This was my first 5K! I had a fast pace for me which I could not have held up for the 10k! It started with a short uphill on the road for 1/2 mile then onto a dirt/gravel old cane road. After I entered the cane road I thought I was going the wrong way because when I did the course check the map my coach gave me had us going a different way so I was freaking out a bit for the first leg and when I got to the turn around I saw everyone else doing the 5k was doing the same! There was also the 10k group with us so I thought I was with them by mistake. The last 1/2 mile was uphill until the last tenth which was a bit downhill. What would you do differently?: I guess listen to the prerace talk to make sure of the course? Post race
Warm down: Walked for a while looking for my husband and boys! What limited your ability to perform faster: I did have a soar throat and had a few bad nights of sleep with sick kids! Event comments: The race had a 10 mile option, 10k and 5k and the signage should have been better for the routes you were supposed to take. The 10k and 5k groups were confused of the course based on prerace maps. Last updated: 2006-09-21 12:00 AM

I woke up at 5:50 to eat breakfast which consist of one egg and a piece of high fiber toast. 1/2 cup of coffee to help with getting lighter! and a boost...
10 min slow jog with a few strides, It was humid so I got sweaty before the race but can't complain about my time so It was probably a good warm up!
