Swim
Comments: I felt really good on the swim. I literally passed more people than I could count, and the new tri-top fit beautifully. I probably should have seeded myself higher in the swim start, but since I had never done a pool start, I added about 1-2 minutes to my usual pool swim times for the distance, and it showed. Transition 1
Comments: LOOOONG run to the transition area (roughly 1/4 mile away). That partially accounts for the long T1 time. Bike
Comments: I actually fell at about mile 16 while turning to cheer on a friend going in the opposite direction! Fortunately I was able to jump right back on without losing too much time! What an embarassment, but at least I didn't get hurt and kept on trucking! What would you do differently?: Um, probably not fall ;) Transition 2
What would you do differently?: Speed laces. I'm definitely buying them before next season. Run
Comments: Pretty decent run, and I paced it pretty well. I might have kicked it up a little sooner, but I finished strong, and really made up time to reach 2nd place in my AG! What would you do differently?: Run faster, as always :) Post race
Warm down: Walking, etc. What limited your ability to perform faster: Falling off my bike didn't help, but I really performed as well as I could have hoped. Perhaps I could have been just a tad faster on the bike, and better in my transitions (esp. T1), but I'm overall VERY happy with my performance Event comments: Great race. Well organized, and VERY well staffed, especially the bike course. There were literally TONS of police to help with traffic flow. The only delay was a delay at the start, because it was too dark to start at the scheduled 7 AM time. Overall, though, a superb event. As far as my performeance, while there are certainly areas for improvemet, I still took second in my AG! WOOOHOOOOO! The fall really just disappointed me personally. I should have stayed more focused, but it was my friends' first tri, and in cheering him on I drifted into a curb and fell. Fortunately, I was stil able to take second in my AG, and the guy who took first beat me by about 9 minutes, so the fall really was irrelevant overall. Still, we triathletes tend to be perfectionists, so the fall was the one real blemish on the race. Oh, one more humorous footnote; when I ran into T2, I jumped out of my cleats and threw on my running shoes practically without looking. WHen I crossed the finish line, I looked down at my feet and noticed that I was wearing two different shoes! It turns out that in T2, I had accidentally grabbed one of my knockaround shoes by accident, so was running with two different shoes on! It didn't feel different at all (both were made by Adidas), but was still pretty funny! Last updated: 2006-09-25 12:00 AM

Got up at 4:45 AM, at 2 powerbars and 2 bananas over the next 1.5 hours (spaced them out). Started stretching about 30 minutes prior to start.
Took a leisurely bike near the transition area, and a brief jog around.
