Total Time = 2h 44m 21s
Overall Rank = 139/271
Age Group = 30-34
Age Group Rank = 14/27
Pre-race routine:

I seem to have finally found a pre-race breakfast that works. Had some oatmeal at home before leaving for the race. Seemed to work really well
Event warmup:

Got to site about 1:30 before race, got chip and body marked, then set up transition area. Did about a 3 mile bike warm up and about a mile run warm up. Got ready for race at the water.
Swim
  • 25m 37s
  • 1640 yards
  • 01m 34s / 100 yards
Comments:

Good swim. Felt good. Only had one small segment where I was slightly off course. Good to know that the orange buoys are for sighting only, so aiming for the yellows cut off some distance (oranges were sort of out of line)
What would you do differently?:

Not too much. Work on swim technique. Swimming at John's place on the lake a few times really helped my sighting.
Transition 1
  • 01m
Comments:

Good T1. TRansition area was a little tight.
Bike
  • 1h 19m 3s
  • 24.85 miles
  • 18.86 mile/hr
Comments:

Was hoping for a little more out of the bike than last year. Only got 1 minute back when I was hoping for a few more than that. I think that can be attributed to the head wind on the last few miles into the park. Overall, was happy with it. Not estatic, but pleased.
What would you do differently?:

Need to work on intensity and keep more pace up hills. Also, should ride the course to know where to hammer and where to recover.
Transition 2
  • 00m 53s
Comments:

First transition with riding on top of shoes. Worked out pretty well. Socks went on fast and was pleasantly surprised with the time of this T2.
Run
  • 57m 50s
  • 6.21 miles
  • 09m 19s  min/mile
Comments:

Good run, walked through one water station to consume a gel, and had a walk up a steeper hill for 15 seconds or so. Probably could have gone a little harder, b/c I had a very strong kick left at the end.
What would you do differently?:

Training was good this year, obviously more hills, do a few more high intensity brick workouts.
Post race
Warm down:

Walked about 5 minutes. Stretched, ate some Outback's (title sponsor)

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Water was a little cool, but didnt' merit a wet suit. Wind on the bike.

Event comments:

Unlike 3-Sports, this race did have some carbonated drinks, but no gatorade or other sports drink.
