Run
Comments: I thought everything went well from what I could do. I ran really hard and was averaging 7:30-7:45 for a while, but then really slowed down after that missed turn. I think I hit the 10 mile mark around 1:12 and figured I'd have an awesome time if I could just still do a 25 min 5K to finish. I felt like I was really running out of gas for the last mile, started to feel a little fuzzy and my Gatorade which was really sweet early in the race tasted very watery in the last two miles. What would you do differently?: Not much. I trained 5 weeks for it, longest run was 11.2 coming in. I think it was a good plan. Now maybe keep the mileage and do another half in a couple months. Post race
Warm down: Walk with wife and baby and eat from the post-race carb banquet. What limited your ability to perform faster: Not a lot. Genetics? Event comments: I suggested they put out mile markers at all thirteen miles next year. It would have been nice to calculate splits and pace. Also suggested they get on the same page with whoever set up the race advertising as they said it would be a long sleeve tshirt, and gave short, and said there would be food and drink at mile 7 and there was nothing at mile 7. They did miss that one big turn that caused a lot of runners to go long. Added about 2 minutes to my time. I'd do the race again next year. Last updated: 2006-09-28 12:00 AM

Got up at 7, had banana and granola bar. Got all lubed up and dressed. Went to check in, and waited for race start.
None. It's 13.1 miles. There'll be plent of time for warmup during the race.
