Run
Comments: Good start close to the front of the pack. Was stuck behind some guy in a speedo and hit my fastest pace of 6:15 passing him. Lol. Did not want to look at that for any longer than I had to. Kept a pretty good pace, but tapered off in the 3rd mile. My pulse was a little too high and I didn't have much kick at the end. A guy started walking right in front of me at the 2.5mi point. I offered some encouragement about only a 1/2 mi left. He ended up beating me by a few seconds, lol. Some older dudes blew past me right at the finish. Still happy because I beat my old time by almost a minute. I started off Sept with a low 26 min 5k, so I improved quite a bit. What would you do differently?: Pace myself a little better for a stronger finish. Post race
Warm down: Had some water, 1/2 a bagel. Not much else. Felt pretty good. What limited your ability to perform faster: I don't know. Probably just need to get more miles in, maybe do some speed work to help with a stronger finish. Event comments: Well put together. Lots of traffic control with many volunteers along the course to offer encouragement. A drink station was set up at every mile, with someone calling out times. Very well organized event.
