Swim
Comments: Good swim. Took some time to get a lane and I felt uncomfortable until so. Once I found a spot, I was able to get into a rhythm and swam well. Really looking forward to when my bike and run catches up to my swim performance. What would you do differently?: Nothing. Transition 1
Comments: One of my best T1 tries yet. What would you do differently?: Just speed everything up. Was pretty organized and calm. Bike
Comments: Was tired and uncomfortable most of the first lap. Many people were passing me like I was barely moving which dropped my confidence some. Did better on the next 2 laps but still felt slow on the bike. What would you do differently?: I need to get faster, although this is not all that bad for only 10 months of riding. Transition 2
Comments: Good T2 also What would you do differently?: Speed it up. Run
Comments: Not much I can say here that would be positive. I probably had to walk about a third of the course. I was just tired and mentally broken down. Chest felt really tight the entire run so I wonder if I was somewhat affected by the smog. My goal in the race was to finish and hopefully complete the run without having to walk. Oh well. What would you do differently?: I need more running base! Post race
Warm down: Long walk, drink some water. What limited your ability to perform faster: Tired, just not fast yet. Was my first Olympic distance race so I am quite happy I finished and not in last. Event comments: This race was one of the hardest things I have ever done. I think I underestimated it. I have been training for less then a year and thought I would have no trouble but that was not the case. I am excited to do another now that I know what to expect and what I need to work on. I am proud of myself for finishing! A couple of comments about the race. First of all there was no food or drink for the finishers and the goodie-bag was not very good. These are petty comments but worth mentioning Last updated: 2006-10-01 12:00 AM

Light meal, got to the race site early with plenty of time to set up and register.
Short stretch before the swim.
