Age Group Rank = 20/62
Pre-race routine:

Woke up at 5am, ate a pb sandwitch and 1/2 bannana, a little coffee and some gatorade. I got to the race site at about 5:45
Event warmup:

Ran to the swim start, it helps keep my nerves down plus I get to avoid all of the shark jokes on the bus.
Swim
  • 20m 29s
  • 1850 yards
  • 01m 07s / 100 yards
Comments:

I had a great swim. This year I decided to start in fron, in past years I have tried to start in the back or off to the side so as not to get run over. I stayed out of traffic, passed a bunch of people in earlier waves and felt great the whole time.
What would you do differently?:

Swim faster
Transition 1
  • 02m 12s
Comments:

In my defense, my rack was all the way at the end, away from the bike start. I suppose it evens out because it was close to the run start.
What would you do differently?:

Move faster, had a little trouble getting the bike shoes on
Bike
  • 33m 35s
  • 12 miles
  • 21.44 mile/hr
Comments:

The bike was tough for me, I was dissapointed in my performance. My legs felt sore, maybe not enough taper? I got passed by a few guys in my AG.I saw my daughter out on the course, she volunteered and gave me a nice shout out, that helped me pick up the pace.
What would you do differently?:

I need to ride more
Transition 2
  • 01m 54s
Comments:

A little slow on the transition, I"ll have to work on that.
What would you do differently?:

Move faster
Run
  • 22m 25s
  • 3.1 miles
  • 07m 14s  min/mile
Comments:

I felt like I had a great run, my heel did not bother me. Felt like my pace was good.
What would you do differently?:

Run faster. Considering I have been focusing on long runs I was quite happy with my time, although I need to get it down to 20 something to be competative.
Post race
Warm down:

Looked around for other BT'ers, did not see anybody. Went for a short run then had an ice cold chocolate milk! Met my wife at the finish and cheered on some of our local tri club members. You just can't have enough cowbell!

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Overall I was pretty happy, I need to bike more.

Event comments:

I love this race! You could not have had a more perfect day to race, great organization.
