Swim
Comments: Since at best I've been swimming once a week it was an okay swim and I was able to pace myself and freestyle the whole way. Was lapped 3 times by the lady swimming in my lane What would you do differently?: Learn to swim decently Transition 1
Comments: Had a little trouble with the socks and put on a long sleeve shirt need to work on the bike mount What would you do differently?: nothing Bike
Comments: I managed a decent speed even though I hadn't biked in a month but it may have hurt on the run. I couldn't ride or drive the course before hand so I missed one badly marked turn(the painting on the street was good but they blocked the entire turn off with cones instead of a cornering turn with cones). Also at the pre-race meeting they said one of the streets was like the cobblestones of Paris and they were right with the chip and seal road that was horrible that lasted for like 3 miles. What would you do differently?: Ride the course first Transition 2
Comments: Okay transition. Nearly fell dismounting when I hit a soft spot when braking What would you do differently?: Learn the feet on pedal thing Run
Comments: Also should have walked this course before because I didn't know it had about a 200 foot climb in the middle and walked up it so I was a little disappointed in my time What would you do differently?: Walk the course first and train more on the bike Post race
Warm down: Walked around, drank some water and talked with the other people What limited your ability to perform faster: not training for this race since I didn't really swim or bike before this event Event comments: There were some turns on the course that were poorly marked and they needed somebody to direct traffic since I had to turn left in front of a truck Last updated: 2006-10-02 12:00 AM

Luckily I woke up because I set the alarm for 5:30 and went back to sleep thinking I had a wake up call at 6. Didn't get the call but woke up at 6:10. Ate some pop tarts (okay but need a better breakfast), checked out and went to the race site. The hotel was bad with paper thin walls, late checkout (7am) and no wake up call. If I do it again next year I will just from GJ to site early in the morning
Jogged a little and then swam in the practice area and stayed in the pool since it was warmer than the pool area.
