Run
Comments: It was very overcast and cool at the 7am start. We had just enough time to line up after going to the bathroom. THe national anthem was nice and the Marines shot off a real LOUD cannon for the start gun. I could have done with out my sunglasses but I had them anyway. I carried them in my hand for the first couple miles. It was crowded in the beginning but it thinned out after mile one or two. This was a training run for us (Disney marathon in Jan 07) so we were just trying to keep a decent pace without killing ourselves. I had to tell K to slow down a couple times (she thanked me later). The Acosta bridge was short but steep. It was in the first 5 miles. We took it easy for a bit after that to recover. It was a great day for a run as it was overcast and breezy. We didn't have any troubles holding our 8:45ish pace. I am sure that I could have finished faster but plan for this race was to hold my partner and I to a decent pace. The last 50yds or so was over a grassy field into Metropolitan Park. We turned up the heat when we hit the grass to make a good show of the finish. I don't have my official results but my watch was real close to the finish clock. What would you do differently?: nothing Post race
Warm down: Grabbed some water, beer, bagles, bananas, and walked around for a bit. Sat in the grass and stretched for a bit. What limited your ability to perform faster: NOthing...this was a great training run. Event comments: The Marines did a great job putting on this race. Pleanty of men and women in uniform out on the course at the aid stations and along the course cheering us on. Last updated: 2006-10-03 12:00 AM

Woke up around 5pm and turned on the coffee pot. Ate two pieced of peanut butter toast.
Met with K and rode to the race together. Got our chips and waited in line for the porta-potty.
