Swim
Comments: 10:25 pace was way too fast to start the race. I should have gone a bit slower. What would you do differently?: I was a little fatigued already due to the warm up "jog" to my car to get my bike pump. Next time I will start fresh with only light warm-up. Transition 1
Comments: I did not run from transition to bike start. Some guy was in front of me and was blocking my way. Next year will consider more aggressive measures. What would you do differently?: Run Run Run from Transition to bike start. Bike
Comments: Forgot liquids back in transition so I dehydrated. Need a road bike to be more competitive. My tires are too wide, bike is too heavy. I am too heavy and am a huge source of drag at 6'6". What would you do differently?: Get a road bike with aerobars. Push it hard on the segment before I hit the headwind to build some momentum. Use the bike segment to re-hydrate. Transition 2
Comments: Badly dehydrated. CHugged some gatorade, but it was too little too late. What would you do differently?: hydrate on the bike. Run
Comments: I cramped up after about 1 mile and had to walk for a few minutes. A mix of run and walk at the 2nd and 3rd uphill segments. THe last mile I was able to pull it together and run, hearing the crowd at the finish line for the last 1/4 mile was the best!! What would you do differently?: Hydrate. Post race
Warm down: Standing around in awe of what I did. What limited your ability to perform faster: hydration and only 2 months of pre-race training. Event comments: A memorable first Sprint Tri. With only 2 months of preparation due to a herniated disc in my back, I was proud to have been able to finish. With off-season training I will be back with a vengeance next year. ~1/4 mile fast jog one way to Parking Lot to grab forgotten bike pump with 20 minutes til race start!! (Will avoid this type of activity in the future by remembering to bring said bike pump to transition area the first time!!)
