Swim
Comments: This was such a good swim for me. I did not overdo it at the start and felt great at the first buoy. Too great. I was swimming so well I forgot to sight and got off course. It wasn't too bad but cost me 1-2 minutes. On the down leg coming to the boat ramp I was actually swimming with some of the ladies who caught me and could stay with them. What would you do differently?: Sight just a little better. I rally think I could have come out of the water in 36 minutes instead of 39. Transition 1
Comments: I really have to explain this T1 time. It was just a little chilly that day and I made sure I put on 3 layers for the bike. However, most of the time was sitting on the ground absolutely giddy with my swim time. I made sure my feet were dry and all the dirt out of my toes before putting on the socks. Getting the wetsuit off was no problem. What would you do differently?: I would have easily knocked 3 minutes off this transition had I known I stood a chance of getting to 3 hours. Bike
Comments: I drank 1 bottle of Perpetuem on the bike and that was just right. What would you do differently?: Attack this course harder. I knew the run would be tough and did not want to leave it all on the bike. 1:20 would not have been unreachable after having ridden this course. Transition 2
Comments: This could not have gone better. I had the shoes on and was out of the gate quickly. It was right about then I knew the run was going to be a good one. What would you do differently?: Nothing Run
Comments: I caught a lady on the dam. Her pace was about right so I fell in line. It was probably the best race decision I have made all year. A couple of times I wanted to pass her but the pace was perfect, both uphill and down. Thanks to her I set a new PR for 10K on the hills! I would have had a tough time believing that 2 mos ago. The September traning went well. What would you do differently?: Nothing Post race
Warm down: Talking and laughing with Tom Petersen and Wakeman. What limited your ability to perform faster: Myself. As happy as I was with this race it actually could have been better. I was a bit hesitant due to this being my first Olympic. Now I KNOW I am not a short course specialist. Event comments: I really liked this race. White Lake might be a little better but not by much. This is a great race to end the season with. Set-Up as usual put on a great event. Best part was meeting Tom Petersen and Mark Campbell. We were able to grab some lunch before leaving town and share some traing ideas and future race plans. Both, along with Jeff Bostic, have helped me through some tough mental blocks-especially with swimming! I can't wait to see everyone again next year. Last updated: 2006-10-13 12:00 AM

Drove down the day before and went to packet pick up. Have never, ever had the site of white caps on a lake terrify me so much. I know I did not sleep 3 hours that night. I did have a wacky dream about the girl I dated in high school though.
Up at 5:30, headed to race site at 6 am. Walked from parking to transition, got set up and met Tom Petersen and Mark Campbell! It was so good to finally meet my support. Also said Hi to Jeff Bostic. Ran for maybe 10 minutes before pulling on wetsuit and heading to lake. Took first shot of Hammer Gel about 15 minutes before the start.
