Swim
Comments: A lot of waves. I believe the swim included the run to the transition area which was way up the beach. Horrible start as I got pounded by some waves. Hesitated a bit too much. After I was out there I was fine. What would you do differently?: Dolphin dive and get out there quicker. Transition 1
Comments: My heartbeat was going pretty quick and I fumbled around a bit with getting my helmet on. What would you do differently?: Could have shaved some time off here. Bike
Comments: VERY narrow course in my opinion. There were a lot of new people and they were riding in the middle of the road so you had to constantly yell out on your left. In addition, there were some hardcore people who just kept going in the left part of the lane, so I felt I had to deal with two type of crowds. What would you do differently?: Nothing. I could have passed some more people perhaps, but I rather err on the side of caution. Transition 2
Comments: Went smoothly. What would you do differently?: Nothing Run
Comments: Had a good pace. Didn't feel any effect of the 'brick' per se. I was pleased to keep it under 8 minute mile pace. What would you do differently?: I wish I had known the course. I thought the turnaround point was the stairs and it is disheartening a bit when you see there is a lot more distance. But I kept the pace. Post race
Warm down: Water and cheered for my friend to come in. Then I saw BT'er Chris come in as well. I thought at first I met have beat him, but then I looked at the results and saw he got me by 12 seconds! I have been thinking this whole morning about the 33 different spots I could have made up TWELVE seconds. My helmet, that one wave, that one guy I was stuck behind on the bike for a minute, blah, blah What limited your ability to perform faster: Bike stills seems to be a limiter. It isn't that big of a deal in the Sprint, but it will kill me in a 70.3 event. Event comments: Nice local race. Went very smoothly. It is definitely a small time event and the race director emphasized that this isn't a place to set a record and I think most people took it to heart (there are always some hardcore folks that always have to go 100% all the time). Last triathlon of the season for me and I am looking to go back and PR at them all next year. I was secretly shooting to be in the top 1/3 of my age group which would have required shaving a minute and 40 seconds off which I can easily do next year. I want to graduate to a FMOP (front middle of the pack). Last updated: 2006-10-16 12:00 AM

Got up at 4am since I needed to pick up my race-pack. Ate some cereal and a bagel and drank some water. Got there quickly and it was funny to see people leaving houses to walk home that were obviously drunk.
Stretched and jogged a bit. Nothing major.
