Pre-race routine:

I got out of bed ... IT'S RACE DAY ... showered because I like to start out fresh and clean ... ate my Muscle Milk n' Oats ... no coffee today. Headed down to the race early to do packet pick up.
Event warmup:

Walked around the park. The starting area was jammed but I squeezed my way in and did a few warm-up jumps.

Comments:

I've been working with my coach and she suggested I run the first mile at a moderate pace, pick it up on the second mile, and maintain or pick it up again at the 2.5 mark. I was digging deep just to maintain on that last mile ... 29:05 is a PR for me so I was a happy little runner today.
What would you do differently?:

I need to work on my pace and leave something in the tank for the last mile.
Post race
Warm down:

Drank lots of water and walked around the park ... didn't stretch ... bad bad Becky.

Event comments:

The Mile Hi Girl Scout Council sponsored this as a family health and fitness event. Girl Scouts is committed to helping girls grow strong in mind, body and spirit. It was wonderful to see these young ladies running with their Mom's and Dad's. The first place female, with a time of 19:46 (6:22 pace), was only 12 years old.
