Swim
Comments: Thought I did better in the swim than I did. I drafted well, navigated pretty OK (only once did I find myself turned way left). I was breathing well and pulling hard on my strokes. Passed people in 3 other swim cap colors. Was surprised I was slower than St. A's. Possibly the fresh water? What would you do differently?: Forgot to think about my hands crossing until 20 min in, that could have slowed me down a touch also. Transition 1
Comments: Pretty long transition. What would you do differently?: Need to practice jumping on the bike. Bike
Comments: Overall I had a pretty good ride, finishing well within the top10% overall. I dramatically underestimated the course, not realizing just how many hills and just how long the hills were. The downhills were nice, but also very long, some with sharp turns at the bottom. What would you do differently?: More hill intervals. More confidence in running downhill approaching 40MPH. OK, I only hit 37.9MPH, but that was a confidence issue. Gotta let it hang out! Transition 2
Comments: Only got one foot out of the shoe, so I had to run through the transition with one shoe on, one off. Fiddled with the socks a bit too much, but that was time well spent. What would you do differently?: Slow down so that I can speed up. Make sure the GU I have open is not sitting on top of the kicks and number belt. The GU heated up and got runny, thus spilling all over. Run
Comments: My run sucks! The hills on the bike took their toll on my quads, but that is no excuse. I continue to slow with each race. What would you do differently?: I just simply need to train more. My dismal 54+ min run is unacceptable. Post race
What limited your ability to perform faster: Not running enough Event comments: Overall a good race. We got wicked lucky with the weather. A really inteesting, challenging course. Very different experience in my first 'travel' race. Last updated: 2006-10-17 12:00 AM

Cup of coffee, bagel with peanut butter. Got to the race a little later than I had hoped, so had to rush around in transition. Ate a GU, got on bus and went to swim start.
None really, no opportunity to get in water for more than 2 min before start.
