Swim
Comments: Switched to breast stroke about 1/3 way in. Someday, I'll have to learn how to site with freestyle. Transition 1
Comments: I chose to walk from the lake and conserve engery instead of running. My heart rate was pretty high and I don't regret taking it easy into T1. What would you do differently?: Remember to put shirt on BEFORE I put on helmet. Oops. Bike
Comments: Very pleased with bike...this time is really great considering how little training I've put in. Saw a beautiful little doe on the way out and felt like she was my personal cheering squad. Transition 2
Comments: Had a tough time getting my bike back in the rack. Thankfully, someone who had already finished was there and helped move some bikes aside so I didn't have to take too much time for that. Spent that time instead walking to a curb one rack over and sitting down to get some socks on for the run. What would you do differently?: Should have remembered to unclip my helmet while running in with the bike Run
Comments: Used up too much energy on swim & bike, didn't have any left for the run. Walked at least 2.5 miles of the run. So many of the athletes doing the olympic distance shouted out words of encouragement as they passed me. That was very nice. About the only ridiculous thing I heard was someone shout "you can DO it" about 10 yards from the finish line. That remark at THAT exact time was a bit condescending. What would you do differently?: Just train more....getting there. Post race
Warm down: Walked around a bit, ate some bananas. Glad I got some water, because the little bit of food they had quickly disappeared. Very poor planning on the quantity of food. Event comments: Since I was the only one in my age group, I won first place!! It was *awesome* to get a trophy at the end. While "first place" does not really represent my performance, it certainly accurately represents my effort in completing the race. Go me! Last updated: 2006-10-21 12:00 AM

Hung out with Tammy. Was debating on getting my wetsuit out of the car. So many other athletes were wearing wetsuits and the water temp was 77 degrees, but since I have a scuba diving wetsuit and not a tri wetsuit, I thought it would take too long to get out of in T1 to make it worthwhile. Glad I decided to forget about it.
None. Too cold.
