Pre-race routine:

Bagel w/pbj at 10:30 or so (race start was 1:30). Inhaler an hour before start.
Event warmup:

Ran for about 9 minutes at an EZ pace with a few 20" pickups to what I hoped was going to be race pace. Stretched. More inhaler. Espresso Gu 5' before start and washed it down with some coffee I swiped from Steve.

Comments:

Plattsys does chip timing, but never starting mats, so my actual time is 15 seconds off from the official time. Crowded start, and I always run too fast at first when this happens. I wore the Garmin because this was an LT test, but did not check pace except at the mile splits against the times they called out. I had hoped to run about an 8:25 pace, which was what the race predictor indicated I could do, so I'm pretty happy with this time. But it hurt. I am training to run a half marathon at a pace close to this one, so I definitely have some work to do.

Eh. I had an asthma attack. That sucked!

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Four pounds. Asthma and fall allergies.

Event comments:

Classic fall road race, great course, a large turnout, and a pub about 100 yards past the finish line.

OToo bad they stopped giving long sleeve shirts. They really need to use a starting mat for the chip times.

Course: The course is basically an out and back with a loop as the turnaround section. The loop includes an off-road trail. Small hilly section between miles 2-3.
