Run
Comments: Haven't been able to train since austin marathon last month. Not enough miles led to shredded quads around mile 20. The race was 70 at the start, but quickly warmed up. The average high this time in atlanta is 67. So "unseasonably warm" was kinda an understatement. What would you do differently?: See doctor earlier so training isn't as disrupted. Post race
Warm down: Warm water. Blechh. Pretzels, bagel, walk to the car. What limited your ability to perform faster: Insufficient mileage between austin (2/18) and today (3/25). Also the weather. It was 30 degrees for my training run on 3/18. Wasn't ready for 80. Event comments: On the marathon course, there were water/powerade stops that were labeled, but there weren't even any tables there! This was in the first half of the race when I was still doing 10:30 miles. Lotsa people were up the creek. Fortunately I had my fuel belt with four flasks of water. Wish I had gone 2/2 with water/powerade. Powerade was missing from most aid stations. I didn't get any until piedmont park (whatever mile that was - it was near the end!). A heard one volunteer snip "you're just lucky we're out here". Yeah, whoever was making a big deal of them being out of powerade was probably wrong, but there wasn't anything the vols could've done for him at that point. Last updated: 2006-11-07 12:00 AM
