Run
Comments: I made sure not to go out too fast and die like last time. It worked. I also picked out rabbits that I didn't think should be able to beat me and made sure I worked hard enough to get ahead of them. I must have worked the right amount, because the last half mile, I wanted to puke and was a bit dizzy at times, but I had it in me to beat out these very loud footsteps approaching me at the finish. What would you do differently?: I am still a very novice runner, and I need miles and miles of training to be comfortable running races. I am laying off races until the Myrtle Beach Half in February. Post race
Warm down: I walked around, got some water and fruit and went home. What limited your ability to perform faster: Let's see..... My non-runner build, lack of long term training, extra 20-30 pounds, my age and probably a few other things I am not remembering, again due to my age. Event comments: You can't beat a race that is less than 5 miles from your house. Last updated: 2006-11-13 12:00 AM

I was very disappointed in my performance in the Raleigh Old Reliable Run a couple of weeks ago. I ran more, and I started reading ChiRunning. I haven't gotten very far into it, but a few basics has really helped my running.
I still am amazed at being around the start of races. I walk, I jog, I stretch, but mostly, I just take in the atmosphere.
