Swim
Comments: Ok...this was a reverse tri, so this is going to read backwards. I of course spent WAY too much time clinging onto the sides, catching my breath, and waiting for people to get out of the way. When you got the pool they had super wide lanes, but people were just jumping in and going... I hung back a few minutes and let a group go first, as I didn't want to get caught up in a bunch of people. I still ended up most of the way behind a guy doing breast stroke the whole way, and he was flailing all about. What would you do differently?: I need to just traing MORE and HARDER. If I could swim without lolly-gagging on the walls I could actually be in the running. So the swim is totally holding me back, and I need to overcome it!!! Transition 1
Comments: Transition from Bike to Swim was slow. I knew the swim was next, and was in no hury to get there. I'm such a dork! What would you do differently?: Freaken hurry!!! It's a race!!!! Even if the next thing is the thing you hate the most.....go get it!!! Bike
Comments: First on the bike baby! In my age group, that is. Nice course. Felt good. Bike computer said average pace was 19.3 with top speed of 23.4. The time above includes T1 and T2. T1 I know was 40 seconds, so I was happy with that. T2 was probably 1.5 min as I sllllooowwwlllyy jogged towards the pool. What would you do differently?: Nothing Transition 2
Comments: T1 was fast. 40 seconds. Off with the running shoes, on with the bike shoes and helmet and I was off. What would you do differently?: The bike racks were too tight. Not enough room to get in and out. Run
Comments: I started the run right on the line. I figured if they were going to start us all at the same time (no timing chip mat at the start) then I was going to be up front....I didn't need any additional seconds added to my time!!! I took off and just got passed the entire time. I felt like I was running as hard as I could, but at the same time, thought I must be going slow, becuase I was getting passed so much. I was a bit mentally discouraged by this, but just kept running as fast as I could. At one point I looked at my HRM and it said 176. This is high for me, so I knew I was going all out. When I entered T1 and my watch said just under 16 min, I couldn't believe it!!!! I was so shocked!! Suddenly I realized I was back in the game! I wasn't as slow as I thought I was!!!! What would you do differently?: Nothing!!! Post race
What limited your ability to perform faster: THE FREAKEN SWIM!!!!!! Event comments: Great event. The Goodyear YMCA was beautiful!! It was a cold, but beautiful morning. I only wish they would let the Tri men go first..... Instead they had the Tri women, Duathletes and Relay people go first. Then let the Tri men go 5 min afterwards. They obviously caught up, and were not always nice when screaming LEFT!!! Whatever...with your woosh, woosh wheels and pointy hat. Don't you have a harder Tri to go do? Had coffee, a power bar, a Z bar and half a banana. This was all eaten incrementally begining at 4:30 and ending at 7:00. Was it bad that I was hungry as the race started?
Jogged around a bit and just tried to get warmed up. It was soooo chilly!!!
