Run
Comments: Ran great through 15 but started having GI problems. Spent a while in the Porto Loo, (Not enough On Course Loo Support). By Mile 18 was Gallow Walking. Managed to muster enough strength to run the last mile or so following the 4:30 Pace Group. What would you do differently?: Not sure if Marathoning is my gig. (This was my first) GI Problems along with Dehydration and full bonk at mile 18 really hurt. Dropped all of my Nutrition in the loo back at Mile 15 and was afraid to take Gel or Water afterward. (For fear of a repeat of the cramps etc.) Post race
Warm down: Space Blanket and, Cookies, Gatorade, Water and a good long Sit. Had to drive home in my 5 Speed Stick and that really hurt driving through traffic. (Calf Cramped up every time I hit the Clutch) Next Time, Take the Odyssey (Automatic) or let someone else drive. What limited your ability to perform faster: Fitness and a bad case of the Collywobbles. Poor Race plan did not help. Needed to adjust for the Warm weather. (Did not) Hey, At least I finished it. Hope to do better at SFM in July. Event comments: The Spectator support was excellent. This has to be one of the better organized Megathons around. Course is not too bad but the temps this time of year are certainly flukey. I was Psyched out on Saturday when I passed the IMCal (In Oceanside) on the way up to LA. I will not be back in 2007 as I will be doing IMCal instead. Last updated: 2006-11-17 12:00 AM
