Run
Comments: I was hoping to PR this race by 5 mins (1:50). Got up late but thank god I normally wake up so early it was like waking up on time. I had a strategy of running an easy first 5 miles, then running a faster next 5 miles and then the last 3 miles would be even faster, this race plan has worked for me my last two half marathons. First and second part of the plan went well, but then around mile 10 I couldn’t run any faster, I have been battling a hip flexor for the past 4 weeks, and it was really killing me from mile 10 on. I tried like heck to pick up the pace but my legs weren’t having it, so I just ran the best I could and hoped for the best. I crossed the line with a new PR, I didn’t take 5 mins off my PR, but it was good to know if I was 100% it wouldn’t have been a problem. What would you do differently?: i did the best i did with my hip flexor issues. Post race
Warm down: walking and eating, some light stretching What limited your ability to perform faster: my own body Event comments: You would think a big city would put on a big time event, but they don't. The course didn't have enough water stations or volunteers to fill the aid stations, the aid stations weren't on good spots on the course. The mile markers were tough to spot and they were even in the right locations on the course. They could good do an overall better job of putting on the race, with all that said i am sure i'll be back again. Last updated: 2006-11-20 12:00 AM
