Run
Comments: Felt really good for the first half of the race. At mile 4 I was at a pace to finish sub 60 minutes, so I was obviously feeling great. Mile 5 I noticed a pain above my knee that stretched up to my hip, but pushed through thinking it was probably just a cramp. Mile 6 pain became too much, so I tried walking for about 20 yards to try and work it out. Started running again and felt okay until I hit mile 7. I realized at this point that what ever the pain was: A.) wasnt going to kill me and B.) wasnt going away until I stopped running. So I gutted it out and ran til the finish line. As soon as I crossed the finish line, the pain became unbearable so I headed directly towards the free Chiroprator tent to figure out what's wrong with me. Turns out it's my "IT Band" in my knee. Looks like lots of rest...and ice...is in my future. What would you do differently?: not get hurt! Post race
Warm down: Tried to stretch, but it hurt. Event comments: This is a BIG race...37,000 people total between the 3 mile and 8 mile. It's organized extremely well for being so large. Would I do this race again? Yes, it's fun and the course is pretty good. Last updated: 2006-11-23 12:00 AM

Slapped on some IcyHot on my sore calves, waited in the line for the port-o-potties, made my way towards front of the pack, stretched and ran in place for a couple of minutes
