Run
Comments: There were both runner for the 5K and walkers for the 3K which made the starting area kind of tight. I just went straight to the front instead of trying to fight my way up. The race was fine other than there were no mile markers and I had no way of knowing what my pace was. I just tried to run according to comfort. I guess it worked out OK since I was able to continue picking off runner by runner the entire course while only being passed once after the first mile or so. Although it was a dry day and I would have preferred to take a little water, they only had cups sitting on a table which I wasn't going to slow down to grab. Not only that but at the course got measured by an extra tenth of a mile long so I just computed back to a 5K distance. Even though I did fine with an overall age group win, I felt that had I known what pace I was on, I could have run a better time. No biggie though, it was a decent run and I had a good time that day. What would you do differently?: Have more time to warm up. Post race
Warm down: Jogged back down and then back on the road the race was finishing on for about 20 minutes. What limited your ability to perform faster: Lack of warm up due to earlier than scheduled start and lack mile markers. Event comments: Enjoyed the race and the other runners were a good bunch. Found the post race activities to be OK but amazed at the lack of cheering a lot of the people gave during the award ceremony. It was like people were just there and could not care less. I felt bad for a few people that were getting awards but when no one even clapped for them. Last updated: 2006-11-25 12:00 AM

Got up and ate some breakfast that consisted of a banana and some oatmeal. Drove to the area of the race and then had to search for the start.
Don't know the area so it took a while to find. I only had time to do a few sprints and a little jogging since the race started a good 15 minutes early. Glad I was already there.
