Swim
Comments: I was right in the middle of the pack and it sucked. I'm pretty sure that I could swim a 25 or even less. I got kicked way more than ever, I had to fight for position A LOT. Honestly, I never really found a groove swimming and never felt like I was hitting my capabilities. What would you do differently?: Probably start off to the side. I have to rethink this. Transition 1
Comments: let's see, my T1 time at SC HIM was 4:08. I was very happy with this. What would you do differently?: nothing Bike
Comments: my pace at SC HIM was 16.48. I pretty much threw down on this, and was hoping to be around 18mph. I was pretty stoked but in the last couple of miles my right hamstring started to hurt What would you do differently?: go faster. I AM IN SERIOUS, SERIOUS ENVY OF ALL TRI BIKES. I think only one person passed me on a road bike. Transition 2
Comments: my hamstring was very, very tight in T2 and at that point I was worried. I was half-limping, half running out of T2 Run
Comments: I was not really very happy with my run but am not bummed about it. It took me a solid 15 minutes to get my hammy loose and until then, I was going 10minute miles or slower. Once it loosened up, I picked up the pace but knew that I it was not going to be the right time to throw down and run 8 minute miles on out. Instead, I wanted to finish the race with a clear head and by that point, I knew I was going to have an overall good time (for me) so there was no reason to kill myself. Plus, when I started to run faster I was at 160HR and I was getting hot. I didn't want to become mentally fatigued so I just concentrated on enjoying my race instead of feigning a puke session. What would you do differently?: run faster Post race
Warm down: collapse at finish line, drink gatorade and water. get in car, drive 6.5 hours home. What limited your ability to perform faster: my hamstring. luckily, I didn't cramp AT ALL. Event comments: I'd do this again. The conditions were very good (a little hot for my taste) but it's fairly well organized and the amount of people make it exciting. The parking situation downtown is dismal. Last updated: 2006-12-01 12:00 AM
