Swim
Comments: I succumbed to peer pressure and didn't wear my wetsuit, even though it would have been legal. I should have because it would have gained me a little time. Not enough to place in my AG, so I guess it's not that big of a deal. The start was mediocre because somehow I got some guys in front of me who then slowed right back down and I had to get around them. When we go to the bouy, there was some guy to the inside that was breastroking and was slapping AND kicking me on every damn stroke. It took me forever to get around him because it was a u-turn and I had to swim so much further. The rest of the swim was pretty good although I never found anyone to draft of. I was quite a bit faster than I expected. Maybe the course was short. Transition 1
Comments: T1 was a pretty long run, so I was a little slower than my goal time. Bike
Comments: Good bike with an average power of 208. The course itself was a little slower than I expected for that power output. Transition 2
Run
Comments: Just felt slow on the run. I pushed myself about as hard as I possibly could have and I don't think I could have gone any faster. 7:50 miles for 2 miles is definitely not very impressive. Post race
Warm down: None. I walked around and waited for the guys I work with. One DNF'd because he kind of freaked out on the swim. He said he'll be back, though. Good for him. The next guy in finished in 1:03 and he looked great. I think he's hooked. The other 2 both finished with respectable times and will also be doing more races. It was cool. What limited your ability to perform faster: I'm not sure if I wasn't fully recovered from IMAZ yet or (more likely) that doing pretty much nothing for the last month left me tight and less than ready. It may have been a combination. I'll see what happens at CapTex in 2 weeks. Event comments: Another great event by Jack and Adam's. For a small shop, they put on some well-run races. My favorite part of the race was Adam's announcing. As people crossed the line he would yell their name and say "YOU are not a rookie anymore." I'm sure that the Mike Reilly/IM reference was completely lost on just about all of them, but it was still funny. Last updated: 2006-12-02 12:00 AM

Got up at about 5:20. Picked up a couple of donuts and some Gatorade and drove down to the race. That's the main drawback to this race is that it's about a 45 minute drive for me. Once I got there, I got setup and met some guys I work with. There were 4 of them and it was their first tri.
I went for a 5 minute jog before they closed transition and then swam most of the 300 m course. After that, it was just waiting around for the race start.
