Comments:

Yikes. This is by far the slowest, HARDEST 5k I've ever run!! It was held entirely on the Prairie Bluff golf course, and we slogged through about 6" of snow the entire way. There were short portions that were packed from people/ATV lead vehicle, but those were few and far between. The first mile was faster only because it started on the fairway and about a quarter mile of it the snow was more dense and didn't give as much. I tell ya, though - this race took a LOT of effort. About 1.5 miles in, I wiped out on some ice (nothing hurt, just a bruised knee) and spent the rest of the ract being extremely careful with my footing.

It was fun, a challenge and I'm glad I did it, but boy was it tough.
What would you do differently?:

I suppose I should have gone somewhere tropical for a couple of weeks before this to practice running on sand. :)
Post race
Warm down:

Back to the clubhouse for chili and cookies!

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Snow, snow, snow....

Event comments:

I enjoy this race ... in all the years I've done it, there's never ideal weather. Last year was icy and windy, this year 6" of snow dumped on us yesterday made it interesting. But - it draws a fast field and the post-race activities are awesome. Really tasty chili and the cookies are the best!

Course: Course was entirely on the Prairie Bluff gold course. Rolling hills and lots and lots of snow. Footing was pretty sketchy through most of it, and going up hills in 6" of snow proved to be pretty tiring.
