Swim
Comments: Worst swim ever.....very choppy, windy, just not nice...these condityions illustrated to me what a poor swimmer I am, lots of work to do for Busso as conditions are likely to be very similar. Was ok heading out to the first bouy, half way to the second bouy I started to feel really sick, was bobbing up and down like a cork, breast stroked a little, it helped, but when I put my head back down the sick feeling returned...was ok heading in and back out again, then couldn't freestyle basicly at all heading across on the second lap. Managed to get my head down and swam home prety strong on the way in for the last time. What would you do differently?: Have to do more training in the open water...in rough conditions also. Transition 1
Comments: transition went pretty well no dramas really... Bike
Comments: Very hill.......which was good really, pegged back plenty of time on this ride, mostly on the hills, I don't mind the hills, and didn't have to burn my legs to make up ground. Had a bit of a scare on the down hill of the first lap, hit 65km/h and my bike started to get speed wobbles (never had this before) managed to hold it together and just took that section a little easier on the following laps. What would you do differently?: Good ride really, quite happy with my ride time. Transition 2
Comments: Good transition, felt quite quick actually. Run
Comments: Felt like a terible run...struggled for most of it...Started off well, felt good, sat on a guys shoulder that was doing a good pace, we were pegging some places back, and I was thinking that I could end up having a good run...then about 3/4 of the way through the first lap, he kicked on a bit, I couldn't keep up and the mind games began AGAIN...was all down hill (figuratively speeking) from there...struggled the rest of the way and ran the 8km in 43min - by far my worst 8km time ever. What would you do differently?: I have to read that book, I am enjoying it, but having a hard time finding time to sit and take it all in, I know I can run better than I have been, gotta get my head right...I think I could copy and paste this same paragraph from just about all of my rr's so far. Post race
Warm down: nothing...i was shatterred after this race, the heat and the hills had taken their toll. What limited your ability to perform faster: I don't think I drank enough on the bike, my powerade was way too hot to drink, so I only had one bottle of vbery warm water, which I drank but didn't enjoy. Must work on that mental stuff... Event comments: Would have been good if they gave out drinks on the ride today...it was hot, registration was early and all of that mede it hard to keep drinks cool for the bike...sounds petty really given that these guys have organised great races all season... By far the most difficult race I have ever done, but placed higher in my age group than ever before, so I must be doing something right...I wonder what? Last updated: 2006-12-11 12:00 AM

Was a bit all over the place, first ever afternoon race, so had alot more time for the nerves to build up. Had alot more people to chat to for some reason this time (more familiar faces every event I guess) so that helped to calm the nerves a bit.
Ran 1/3 of the run course, did some stretching.
