Pre-race routine:

Waffles w/PB and honey. Coffee. Drive to New Haven and register.
Event warmup:

Run from car to race start three times, plus a little more on the last run. Kept pace between 10:20 and 10:30. Stopped to stretch a few times.

Comments:

Steve's knee was acting up during warmup, so he decided that he would run with me and pace me for 7:50 miles. That lasted maybe for a minute, and then he was off to run his own race. Anyway, it was a crowded start, so a little slow going in the beginning. After things opened up, I started moving a bit too fast (maybe 7:20 pace). Dropped my gloves 1.9 miles in when I was trying to take my windbreaker off, so had to slow a little bit so the guy who picked them up could give them to me.
Post race
Warm down:

I had a beer and ate some danish. How can anyone resist that combination? They had hot dogs for those who were less adventurous with their beer pairings.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Fitting this race into my regular training schedule. Probably could have taken more time off this race if I hadn't done two workouts the day before (including a swim with kick sets - bad idea). But the only point of this race was to do it in 25 minutes, so my goal is met.

Event comments:

Fun race! Would have liked to see some more costumes, but the t-shirts are nice, and there's Sam Adams and good food after the race. With 1254 competitors, a chip time at the beginning and end would be a nice way to avoid the starting line crush. Would be nice to see this as a certified course, but I'll be back regardless.

Course: Loop in downtown New Haven. Very interesting course in that it seemed like the entire thing was downhill, even though it wasn't. Course is not certified, and a little bit long (~.05M)
