Pre-race routine:

Event warmup:

Walked around a bit and jumped on my bike to make sure all was well.

  • 400 yards
  • 02m 22s / 100 yards
Comments:

I still kind of suck at swimming, but it was right on track with my speed lately. Water got into my right goggle so I spent some time trying to fix it.
What would you do differently?:

Make my goggles tighter at the start.
Transition 1
  • 02m 28s
Comments:

Slipped and fell going around the fence out of the lake. The grass was quite slippery. Pretty good run into T1 which was close. Sat down and got my feet dried and socks and shoes on.
What would you do differently?:

Not fall

The bike segment was pretty brutal, and even the really seasoned triathletes were saying so.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

talent and lack of experience

Event comments:

One of the members of the club (Doug) owns(?) the Main Street Bistro in New Paltz and catered after the race. Bob's wife also baked some tasty treats. I had a super time!
