Pre-race routine:

Drove up a bit late and grabbed my free stuff and went back to the car to put it away.
Event warmup:

Like I said I was late. I saw Shannon, Ovetta, Ken (Triathlonfun), Julia and Chris and their kids and some other friends. Quick jog but not a great warm up. Lots of chatting but that was ok. I was out late last night and drank a few too many shots but felt good and drank lots of water last night as well.

Comments:

Started a few rows back from the front with my friends Ken and Chris D.I started pretty easy at 6:22 minute miles at the first mile. Good! I lost the rest of my splits at home when my watch battery died but I can remember them mostly. Up the first hill. Then flat for a while and we hi the 5k turn around. I chugged along and picked off many who went out to fast. Dudes, there is a huge hill you have to hit twice. Anyway got the the top of the dam and saw Julia and her kids, that was nice. I was in about 20th place at the time. Keep working through the field and caught the second place woman. Surged past a few guys fading. Hit the turn around at mile 3. Don't remember the split but it was around 6:22 and mostly down hill at this point. Past a few more guys and slowed on the up hill and shortened the stride and upped the cadence. Some guys wnet by but I caught them again on the downhill. Hit mile 4 and felt pretty good. Was in a pack of 5 guys. I passed 2 of them and went with the faster 2. Got to mile 5 and past the next 2 guys. They ended up passing me with about a half mile to go. I finished strong but was getting a blister with socks I had never worn. What a wuss. Finished up and had a good effort.
What would you do differently?:

Wear more comfy socks.

Very tough course! Many hills. Great to see all the BT crew out there running their hearts out. I won a gift certificate to runners roost and the Accelerade guy gave my a can of accelerade.
