Swim
Comments: I started out wide to avoid the crowd. I gradually moved over and turned close to both buoys. After the final turn though, it was hard to see where we were supposed to aim for on the beach. Between that and the current in the river, most swimmers, including me, ended up wide of the course. What would you do differently?: I need to get better at sighting. I won't go as wide at the beginning next time. Transition 1
Comments: Pretty smooth transition. I jogged through much of it, even up the stairs from the beach. What would you do differently?: Nothing. Bike
Comments: Was able to stay in aerobars pretty much the whole time. Had a bit of trouble with some traffic at the beginning. Started to feel a side stitch coming on but was able to keep it away with deep breaths. Drank about 3/4 of my bottle of gatorade. Transition 2
Comments: Pretty smooth. What would you do differently?: Still could use some practice on transitions in general. Run
Comments: By the time we started running, it was 11 am and the humidex was in the 30s. The heat really got to me. I had to take lots of walk breaks. At one point on the way back I started feeling lightheaded. I was able to jog much of the last km in to the finish line and as always finished with a smile. Another note about the heat. Someone apparently collapsed on the run earlier in the day. I saw her and the ambulance coming to get her while I was on the bike course. She must have been doing the Olympic tri or the duathlon. Post race
Warm down: We finished on the beach so I took off my shoes and socks and jumped into the water for a refreshing dip. Quite a few others took advantage of the water. What limited your ability to perform faster: The heat really killed me. I felt bad about the run but afterwards Andrea told me that she'd had to take walk breaks too and she never does. Aimee said that she found the heat really bad too. That made me feel a bit better. Event comments: Despite the heat on the run, I had a really good time and enjoyed the race. The swim was great, the water temperature was perfect and I felt that I swam it well, with good form, and finished strong. I'm a much better swimmer than this time last year.I can definitely see improvement from last year on the bike and I really felt comfortable on the aerobars. I was in a really strong age-group so I don't feel bad about being last among such strong ladies. Last updated: 2006-12-19 12:00 AM

Got up at 6 am. Had a shower to wake up, got my gear loaded up then had some oatmeal and fruit juice for breakfast. Drove down to the race site, got my race package and set up the T-Zone. Ran into Andrea that I met last year so we hung out until the race started at 10 am.
Got into the water about 15 minutes before the race started and swam a bit. The water temperature was beautiful so I had decided not to wear my wetsuit, especially since I hadn't practiced with it at all yet this year.
Just as a note, for overall numbers, I'm listing the female results.
