Swim
Comments: My stroke mechanics felt ughly but my time was almost identical to a race I did 4 weekss ago. This was surprinisng because I flet my traing had tapered significantly during the office move. The water didn't feel as good as the pool in Corvallis even though I couldn't put my finger on why. What would you do differently?: Same story I have bad fundamentals. My wife said that it looks like my hips are dropped and I don't swim straight. Swim instructions would help significantly. Transition 1
Comments: My T1 ranking was in the top 50 for the race. I think the most important change was having my shoes already clipped in. I could also run faster in socks than with bike shoes. What would you do differently?: I think that I should think about the little things that worked for me this race and incorportae them into my weekly training. Bike
Comments: I lost almost one mph from a race 4 weeks ago. This race had more hills, but I felt I rode them intelligently. I passed four riders and was passed twice. This is also similar to the Beaver Freezer. U an dussaoiubted tat U kist the mph. What would you do differently?: I went out and bought a speedometer after the last one was stolen. I intend to keep an eye on average mph. I am also going to start riding some of the bigger hills ine area to get ready for Pacific Crest. Transition 2
Comments: I had not practiced taking my feet out of the shoes while riding so I had problems getting my feet out of my shoes. This probably changed my T2 rating from good to average. I intend to incorporate this into my trainging. What would you do differently?: Get my feet out of the shoes better. Also I had problems tying my shoes because my fingers were so cold. Elastic laces would help here. Run
Comments: Running was fine. Not to painfull but I didn't float either. What would you do differently?: If I am going to contine doing sprints I will need to do some speed work at some point. Now I am fine building on my fitness. Post race
Warm down: Wife and dog were waiting for me. We collected the gear and then went out to lunch. Around 2:00 I went to the gym and spent some time on the treadmill and lifecycle/ What limited your ability to perform faster: Working on distance vice speed getting ready for Pacific Crest. I believe I could have performed an Olympic distance race without my times dropping off too much. Two things to do would be swimm faster and enter T2 more efficiantly. Event comments: While my times were almost identicle to Beaver Freezer I placed better at the Farm. I think that they had a lot of first timers at this race. The race seemed to be well run. No warmup to speak of this race. I had the wife and dog with me, it was cold so ti was easy to sit in the car and talk. While waiting for my wave all I could think about is how F*&^%n cold the bike segment was going to be.b
