Run
Comments: Gun went off and unlike other years, my corral group was able to run immediately - None of the 'surge forward, come to a complete stop, start running again' dynamic. Even so, first mile was slow at around 7.30mins. Downhill segment for first three miles was done in around 21mins even, which means the harder, uphill part was about 40 secs a mile slower - That's ok, I guess. For sure, when you're running the hills on this course, you know you're in the middle of a fight. I do this race with no particular expectations and have no training focus for it so it's really just a mid season fitness test for me. . I got a two minute PR for the course, which was a very pleasant surprise and I am determined now to get a sub-seeded # for next year's race which would mean running a qualifier in less than 42mins. That will be no slam dunk. My neighbor and his 5mile a week running regimen ran 39:30 - He's totally humble about it but I think I'm going to key his car just the same. What would you do differently?: Move myself to the front of the corral for the start. Post race
Warm down: Caught my breath, got my shirt, and went to my company's sponsor tent. What limited your ability to perform faster: Very limited running base at present, much less any specific training for this race. Event comments: There are very few races this size and I think the organizers do themselves proud. Last updated: 2007-01-04 12:00 AM

Took MARTA to Buckhead with my neighbor Dave. .Dave is a quite strong cyclist who logs maybe 5 miles a week of running. More on this at the end.
Light stretching and some pickups before I headed to the corral. .About 30mins of waiting before the gun went off.
