Run
Comments: I pretty much knew late last week that this would not be a banner run for me. I have not run much since my first marathon on Feb. 25th and the runs I have done have been a bit sluggish. The marathon took alot out of me and I suspect that I am not really fully recovered from it. I was losing my mojo pretty much in mile 6 and had to really talk myself into continuing to run. I did this pretty successfully, but my mind kept whining about how many more miles were left to go. What would you do differently?: I probably set out too fast at the start. This is a hard thing to manage for me, but I suspect if I had been more diligent with sticking to a 9:00 to 9:10 mile pace at the beginning I might have been able to push harder at the end. Also, I was not prepared for the hills so definitely more hill training. Post race
Warm down: It was hard to get warm after. It got very cold walkng around trying to find my friends and then we walked back to where we had spent the night and it was just plain cold!! What limited your ability to perform faster: Fatique and an accumulated stress from the last couple of weeks had taken its toll on me for sure. I probably didnt fuel properly pre-race too. Event comments: Even though I didnt have my best run, this is a race I would highly recommend for all the runner girls out there. A great venue and a challenging run with terrific energy. I would really like to do it again next year and really dominate those damned hills!! Oh, and originally—my time was not listed in the results. I emailed the folks at NYRR.org and later today the times were reposted and mine was there! So that was good :) Last updated: 2007-01-04 12:00 AM

Had a great trip into the city and great meal Saturday night at a nice little Italian place. A nice treat compliments of my friends Dad. Got up a bit later on Sunday morning than we should have, so we were kind of rushed to get breakfast and get dressed and ready to go. Maybe this was a good thing as there was less time to get nervous and stressed about the run. Ate a banana and a bagel. Had some vitamin water and a few sips of coffee.
We had to walk a couple of blocks from where we were staying to get to Central Park so that was pretty much our warm up. We were happy that we had opted to where less clothing rather than more as it felt pretty comfortable outside. I had to twinkle when we got there so spent my remaining pre-race minutes waiting in line for the portolet. This has pretty much become my standard pre-race routine.
