Pre-race routine:

Woke up at 4:30, had breakfast of PB&J. Loaded the car with everyone and gheaded to the race around 5:10.
Event warmup:

No time for warm up by the time I got to use the John I had 10 minutes to get my wetsuit on and run to the chute! Managed to get in a gu befroe swim start.
Swim
  • 32m 6s
  • 2112 yards
  • 01m 31s / 100 yards
Comments:

Started out really well but just sighted poorly. Couldnt see buoys and tried to sight longer which made me drink water...didnt really calm down the whole swim because of sighting until the turn around. Once we turned it was like some turned on the runway lights!
What would you do differently?:

Swim the whole course to see first hand where the buoys are and navigate through them. On smaller races sprint and Olys you can see the course well but on a half it's deceiving.
Transition 1
  • 03m 40s
Comments:

Great transition, sta down and took the extra 20 seconds to put on socks and wash my mouth out with my water transition water bottle.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing....
Bike
  • 2h 42m 8s
  • 56 miles
  • 20.72 mile/hr
Comments:

Killed the bike, rode hard stayed aero and felt great. The race wheels were the best thing I couldve purchased this year. I couldnt be more pleased.
What would you do differently?:

Not much
Transition 2
  • 03m 17s
Comments:

Really good transition. I never purchaed my lock laces so I had to tie my shoes and remember to double knot them.
What would you do differently?:

Lock laces
Run
  • 2h 02m 42s
  • 13.1 miles
  • 09m 22s  min/mile
Comments:

Felt really tight at the start and really never went away. Just ate and drank the whole way for fear of cramping. Happy about the run but definitely could've done better than a 9:20 pace.
Post race
Warm down:

Cold rag and gatorade...after 20-30 minutes ate some pasta at the food tent.

Event comments:

Great race, great effort. Knocking 50 smonething minutes from last years time I could be happier. Training is going really well for me, I think a full IM in 08 or 09 is well within my grasp.
