Total Time = 2h 25m 7s
Overall Rank = 33/251
Age Group = 40-44
Age Group Rank = 10/33
Pre-race routine:

Ate a PB&J - seems to agree very well with my stomach.
Event warmup:

Set up myself and two kids this race - daughter's first Tri! Ran back and forth between the swim area and bike transition to situate the kids and get pictures.
Swim
  • 24m 4s
  • 1640 yards
  • 01m 28s / 100 yards
Comments:

Off course on leg going intot he sun. Had a tough time seeing the bouys and was battling position with two other swimmers. Can't complain on the time - some people said it seemed a little short, I always think it's a little long!
What would you do differently?:

Tinted goggles, sight a little more often.
Transition 1
  • 00m 30s
Comments:

Good transition - very smooth. No socks is speeding things up, as is getting the straps started on the shoes.
Bike
  • 1h 14m 16s
  • 24.85 miles
  • 20.08 mile/hr
Comments:

Panicked at mile 10 when I thought I sliced my front tire. Never lost pressure. After race found it was a strip of sticky velcro that stuck to my tire!
What would you do differently?:

Need to push harder on the bike.
Transition 2
  • 00m 30s
Comments:

Another good transition
Run
  • 46m 47s
  • 6.21 miles
  • 07m 32s  min/mile
Comments:

Had a slight cramp in my right side just under the rib cage that got progressively worse. Walked about 1/4 mile between miles 2 and 3 to try and rid myself of the cramp. Didn't work, so toughed it out. Finally relieved itself around mile 5. Had a strong finish for the last mile or so.
What would you do differently?:

Better pre-race hydration. Drank too much onthe bike to stay hydrated which I think added to the cramping issues.
Post race
Warm down:

Stretched and walked around with the kids.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Cramping during the run.

Event comments:

Another great TBF Event. These guys are always fun (great announcers) and it's a party atmosphere at the finish. Every racer is recognized from first to last! Highly recommend.
