Swim
Comments: Swam really straight on the first leg, then got off course on the second while swimming into the rising sun. Started off strong and was feeling it towards the middle of the swim, but finished strong as well. Kept telling myself to GO FOR IT! PRed the swim portion. :) What would you do differently?: Sight more often. Transition 1
Comments: Still starting the ratchet straps in transition which makes for quicker start once I'm on the bike. Worked the suit off the feet while putting on the helmet and it seemed to work OK. Need practice onthis so I can do both tasks at the same time. What would you do differently?: Need to get TRI-specific Biking Shoes for quicker T1. Bike
Comments: OK - need to push the bike harder. Forgot to put my Garmin on the bike during set-up, so I had no idea what my pace was. May have helped since I told myself to just push harder than normal. I felt like I did, and I did get a PR on the Bike Portion, but would have liked to have been a little faster. This IS my weakest area and will be one of my winter focuses. What would you do differently?: Bring along my Garmin. Push harder and stop worying about keeping a reserve for the run. Of course I'll need to train more onthe run to compensate for that! Transition 2
Comments: Excellent T2. Passed up two bikers that I was dueling with on the bike course and came into T2 ahead of me. What would you do differently?: Nothing - well, TRI-specific Bike Shoes will make getting out of them while riding easier! Run
Comments: BEST Triathlon Run I've ever had! :) This was my strongest part of the race, and I felt GREAT! Couldn't believe my first mile split @ 6:37. Told myself to slow down a little and pace myself. Passed a ton of other runners, and finally caught the 4th place runner in my age group. Passed him strong onthe last hill @ about 3/4 mile from the finish. SUB 7:00 pace 10k - very pleased! What would you do differently?: Stopped and walked through the water stations. It helped ensure I was hydrating well, but not sure if I really needed it. It worked out overall though so who's complaining! Post race
Warm down: Walked around, found Ryan, drank some water, ate some of the great food! What limited your ability to perform faster: HIM two weeks prior - no training in between. Event comments: Another fine TBF Racing Event. Highly recommend for all levels of athleates (Unless you are a Male 40-44 and are faster than me, then stay home so I can place better)! Set up transition area, set up Ryan (Kids Triathlon). PB&J one hour before event, plus some hydration.
Chased Ryan around as he did his race so I could watch his transitions and finish. He came in 2nd Overall (10 and Under) and 1st in his age group (9yo) - got a bigger plaque than me!
