Swim
Comments: I thought I had this swim nailed, I was really surpised to see 8:30, :30 slower over last year. The entire wave was shivering waiting for the bell, maybe I was just frozen. In my AG I did ok but my overall time was slower than I thought. My swim times in the pool were much improved this year, I don't understand why it didn't translate to the lake. What would you do differently?: I really don't know, I need to think about this one for awhile. I distinctly remember to focus on form, my navigation was decent - I had an orange rope 5 ft away most of the time and felt my speed was good. Transition 1
Comments: I was also somewhat disappointed in my T1 time but I was at the extreme end of the transition area, so I had to hobble with my bike the entire lenght of the transition area. Overall, I thought it went ok. What would you do differently?: More practice, hope for a better spot next time. Bike
Comments: Some gusts on the way out, I thought my avg speed was going to be a little higher, I am really happy about cutting 4 minutes off last year but a new bike will help do that. The wind on the first leg slowed me down some, not too many passed me and I passed several coming back. What would you do differently?: Nothing, just keep biking. Transition 2
Comments: Again, I thought this transition was really smooth. I have no idea what I did for a minute, I was in and my rack was one of the first, racked the bike, helmet off, bike shoes off, running shoes on and gone. Hmmm. What would you do differently?: Practice more. I need to eventually get tri bike shoes, so I can dismount with the shoes off. Run
Comments: I did well in the run, I improved over 3 minutes in my run from last year and that I am totally stoked about. I was shooting for a 7:00 pace and beat that so I am glad my legs were there. Last mile was great, good breathing and pace. Nice crowd at the end to cheer, no better feeling. What would you do differently?: Nothing, it was great coming out of T2 and I deliberately kept my pace down to adjust, no cramping and after the first 1/2 mile I hit it. If I can do it this way every time I'll be happy. Post race
Warm down: Just like warm up, stand around, talking, cheering folks on, etc. What limited your ability to perform faster: Limited transition practices, my head up my A$$ in the swim and T1. Event comments: Its a local race, few hundred folks so I think it went well. The people driving their cars like A-holes through the race should be shot, I was hoping the cops would. Other than that, the race was great. Last updated: 2007-01-11 12:00 AM

Woke, "wake me up" shower, oatmeal, and took off...
Standing around, talking, listen to iPod, ponder life, and stretching. It was cool out and a warmup swim did not sound like a good idea.
