Run
Comments: Yeah ... I ran ... I left my competitive nature at the starting line and switched into survival mode. Snow. Ice. Hills. The first mile was the toughest because my body just didn't want to move ... hmmm ... maybe I should have warmed up a little. The snow felt like little darts hitting my face ... that was interesting. The pavement was slick so my goal was to stay vertical. I discovered it takes more leg strength to run in snow and I have to give some credit here to Jeff Jones, my trainer at 24 Hour Fitness ... thank you for never letting me wimp out on my lunges, squats, and leg curls ... that's all that got me over the hills today. I never looked at my watch or HR ... I just kept my eyes on the road and plowed ahead. What would you do differently?: What can you do differently on a day like this ... I would probably get those nifty little things that go on the shoes so I'd have some traction ... YakTrax or whatever they're called. Post race
Warm down: Warm down ... are you kidding me ... I found the tent with the muffins and ate one as I jumped around trying to keep warm. What limited your ability to perform faster: The blizzard ... ? Event comments: During the 5 Mile Awards the guy from Colorado Runners had to quickly grab the top of the tent because it started to lift off ... that snow was blowing pretty darn hard. There were several of the BT crowd there and I was anxious to meet them but I was so cold and needed to get in dry clothes so I headed home. I did get to meet Cathy (COgirl). Beka (beka66) braved the cold and came down to cheer me on ... thanks Beka. Last updated: 2007-01-11 12:00 AM

Wake up ... it's race day ... shower, oatmeal, find a water bottle that doesn't leak ... out the door. I got my chip and packet and slid back to the car to put on the extra layer of clothes I brought ... it was so freakin' cold.
No warmup ... you know by now this isn't my thing ... actually I jumped around a little because ... did I mention this already ... it was so freakin' cold.
