Swim
Comments: Started off on the right side of the wave and tried to stay out of traffic but wasn't able to do so. Was the first OWS that I was in traffic for the majority of time. Rounded the first bouy good but looked right into the sun when I breathed to the left side and got a little off course. Saw a bouy and swam toward it to get my location. Once I found my line I headed straight for the final turn bouy and got into traffic agian. Got hit in the head and felt a little disoriented so I swam to the boat to hang on to gather myself. Rounded the final bouy after a breif rest on the boat and headed in. What would you do differently?: Swim entire length without stopping. Sight a little better and practice OWS. Transition 1
Comments: Had a long run up the hill and to my bike in T-1. Got to my bike, put on my shoes, helment and glasses and headed out. Had a slight down hill run to the Transition exit and my bike tried to get away so I had to stop and straighten it out and head out. What would you do differently?: Practice T-1 and work on having shoes already clipped in. Bike
Comments: Felt good coming out of the water and was ready to bike. Had my water and Gu on my bike and was planning on taking in nutrition on the ride. Out portion of the ride had some hills that I pushed up. Stronger riders were passing on the left so I tried to keep as far right as possible not to get in their way but the roads toward the shoulder were a bit rougher. Down hill portions of the race were extremely fun and I felt comfortable speeding down them. Overall this was a very good ride for me. What would you do differently?: Work on Hills and take in nutrition on the ride. Transition 2
Comments: Unclipped my right foot prior to getting to the dismount line and once I hit the box I was able to swing my leg over my bike and hop off and run to my spot. My spot was close to the bike entrance. Racked my bike easy and threw off my helmet, put on my hat, socks and shoes no problem. Had a long run uphill out of transition. What would you do differently?: Take in the nutrition that I didnt take in on the bike portion. Maybe not use socks on 5k runs to save a few seconds, but need to practice runs w/o socks first. Run
Comments: Not taking in the nutrition and water on the bike definitly hurt my run. Started out of T-2 strong and got to the first water station and walked it to get some water. Tried to start running agian but kept crashing and having to walk a bit and run. First 2 miles were run walk combos. Got to mile 2 and decided to run the rest of the way no matter how hard it was. Final 200y I pushed it as hard as I could. What would you do differently?: Take in nutrition on the bike and during transitions. work on hill work. Post race
Warm down: Walked around a bit and got some food and drink. Did a little stretching. What limited your ability to perform faster: I think the lack of nutrition on the bike effected my run. Also, being lazy the past few weeks and not training properly and eating poorly. Event comments: This is my first year doing the Tri the Park series and I am very impressed with them and looking forward to returning next year and trying to beat my times. Very good feild and great support from all the volunteers and even the other athletes. Last updated: 2007-01-12 12:00 AM

Woke up at 4:45 and got my car packed up and drove to the race site. At an uncrustable and drank some coffee along the way. Set up Transition and headed to the swim start.
Got in the water and did a few strokes to get use to the water and waited for the race start.
