Swim
Comments: The swim was great. Got a good lead off the line and dove , dove , dove and dug in for some really good strokes and then settled into a good pace. I was able to pass and catch up with people from 3 waves ahead of me. Last length I did swing kinda wide and that probably added some time to my swim. What would you do differently?: Add body glide to the places that I didn't know to during this race. (underside of arm) Work more on Bi-lateral breathing. I did fairly well at this but I could tell I wasn't consistent and as a result I was beginning drop my shoulder and pull more to the right steering me off course. Transition 1
Comments: Everything was laid out in T1 like I needed it. I came right out of suit and stepped right into bike shoes. Helmet on and watch on wrist. Started moving towards exit and putting gloves on while moving. What would you do differently?: I think this went well and the only thing that could make it better is more races. Bike
Comments: Came out strong on the ride and continued to pass everyone that I could see. About mile 18-20 a serious headwind picked up slowing me down. I had a HEED and grabbed a water at the water stop but think maybe I should have had more. I continued to sip threw entire bike running out of HEED at mile 10 and getting water at mile 15ish. Had a apple hammer gel at mile 20 and washed down with water. What would you do differently?: I need to really figure this nutrition thing out! Drink more Transition 2
Comments: Went smooth no complaints. big help setting socks up folded down so all i had to do was put toe in and pull up. What would you do differently?: Practice more Run
Comments: THIS KICKED MY ASS!!!!! Run started really slow and only got worse as the air got more humid and the sun got higher. It was a real mental game between my body and mind that I have not learned to play yet and this really ate my time up. I would force myself to run for 2 minutes and speed walk for 2 minutes sometimes longer (next cone, house, driveway etc) There were allot of demons on that course that I'm sure were brought on by the heat and it took allot to fight them off. What would you do differently?: I need to work allot on long slow distance runs and bricks so my body can become used to this punishment. Need to train more in the heat and work on nutrition. Post race
Warm down: Gatorade, A couple cold beers at the North Atlanta Multisport tent with my kick ass club member. What limited your ability to perform faster: I don't think I took this race very seriously and think I could have trained harder. Taper week nutrition sucked race weekend nutrition sucked nutrition overall sucked (I have learned a huge lesson this past weekend) Need to ride more hills and do longer runs to build my endurance. Event comments: Swag bag sucked! nothing in there but a hammer gel and a bunch of crap about up coming Florida races. Race shirt to small. I got an XL and its almost a midriff. I had a great time and am stoaked I completed my first OLY. Can wait for the next one. Last updated: 2007-01-21 12:00 AM

I got a great night of sleep before hand. I was in bed by 9:30ish and asleep by 10.
Up at 4:15 and had a half of carrot cake cliff bar and some really cruddy coffee. Had to walk about 6 blocks to transition so I drank a Gatorade AM (love this stuff) enroute.
Grabbed gear from the room I was storing it in and double checked that I had everything and much to my surprise found that I had an ample supply of tampons. (note to self) DO NOT LEAVE RACE GEAR IN FRIENDS ROOMS! Removed those and the Pads from my wet suit and was off to transition
My race wave didn't start until 9:15 so there was allot of standing around. About 30 minutes before race I got some warm up laps in and stretched some.
