Swim
Comments: There seemed to be a lot of first time triathletes that sprinted the first 50 yds and then bonked in front of me blocking my way. I was able to swim through a lot of them, but of course I would then be blocked by the breast and back strokers. Move! What would you do differently?: Self seed in earlier wave, near the front. Transition 1
Comments: Changed out of wet shirt in to dry one to stay warm. Used camel back for race b/c of hills and no aid stations. Took longer, but I was quite comfortable as far as being warm and hydrated. What would you do differently?: Practice putting on camel back. Bike
Comments: Bronchitis was apparent on the hills, could hear the air rattling around. Should have been under an hour. Hilliest course I have ever done in a race! Again the newbies were out in force, they would stop right in the middle of the rode or else they'd be riding 8 MPH on the yellow line. They would pass and slow. What would you do differently?: More practice rides on the course. I plan to do this race again next year, so I will try to make this a routine ride though it is a long drive (45 min)from my house. Transition 2
Comments: Knocked over a bike. Oops. Sorry about that. Owner was n't there, picked up bike, no damage. Racks were PVC pipes and very flimsy. What would you do differently?: Not knock over any bikes. Run
Comments: Really should have done this run several times before the race. Very hard run for me, bronchitis did not help. Walked some hills. What would you do differently?: Run the whole way, no walking Post race
What limited your ability to perform faster: Bronchitis and lack of running practice. Event comments: I will definately make this a routine race since it is so challenging and close to home. I like the all ladies venue as well. Day two is men only. One thing I did not mention on the bike section was the number or pre-race and race flat tires. One person I know got 2 flat tires before the race due to thorns. Many others on the course had flats. There also were a lot of prople de-railing on the ride due to poor shifting skills (or bikes in need of tune up?) Last updated: 2007-01-21 12:00 AM

Light sleep the night before, usual dreams where I forget bike shoes etc. Someday I will learn not to be nervous and get a good nights sleep the night before.
Short jog before some stretching.
