Comments: Felt alright for the first 3 km, but then my hips tightened up going hard up hill and I was reduced to basically medium pace after as anytime I tried to pick it up my hips just died!!! Brutal. I have had a bit of a lingering cold, but seemed to have not too much of a problem with that which was good as I was expecting that to cause some issues. What would you do differently?: Get more rest the night before and make sure I am nice and loose going into the race. Post race
Warm down: Light jog for 5 minutes and some more stretching. What limited your ability to perform faster: Lack of speed work this early in the year, although I am not complaining, it was nice to get out and feel what it is like to be in a race situation again. Woke up early, had Oatmel and a banana for breakfast and some water.
Got to the race an hour before start, did a light warm-up and stretched a bit. Felt pretty tight, especially my hip flexors.
