Swim
What would you do differently?: Practice swimming with eyes closed and learning to look for markers (bouys) while freestyling. Transition 1
Comments: Walk from swim finish to T1 was tough!! Walked all the way in T1 to catch my breath and watch heart rate. Felt good in transition; took my time, but feel coordinated and not chaotic. Bike
Comments: Started out still catching my breath from the swim and T1 and lots of nerves!! Finally calmed down about a third of the way through the ride. When I stopped to walk up the hill, I took the time to drink more water and eat a gel pak. I think that helped me for the rest of the race as I had not had a lot to eat before the race. Transition 2
Comments: Bike into T2 was up pretty steep but very short hill. Warning from race coordinator of using easiest gear was helpful. Walked bike back to rack. Transition felt smooth. Run
Comments: Left shin bothered me a lot until half way through the run. Walked most of the first half, ran most of the second half. Post race
Warm down: Drank lots of water!! Mingled some with family and new tri acquaintance. Visited the porta-potty and gathered my belongings from the transition area. Headed to the car and to a shower! What limited your ability to perform faster: Lack of endurance... heart rate was too high throughout the race. Nerves did not help, especially in the swim and not being able to each much before the race. Event comments: Wonderful event organization and traffic control on bike ride! There were lots of volunteers and police to help direct us... never had a doubt in my mind about which way to turn or go next during the entire race! Lake Lanier Islands is a crowed place though and Saturday registration and bike check-in were a bit hectic. I heard from my hubby that it was relatively tough for spectators to find the right place to watch and navigate to/from the swim start. Course was open to traffic, which was frustrating for drivers and spectators. (No issues at all for the participants.) I did not stay for the catered breakfast after the race, but I did check out the buffet... very nice!! Course was not necessarily too hard... I just needed more training before hand. Definately need to work on endurance in some lower traning (heart rate) zones. I had a great time!! Lots of encouragement from other participants and volunteers. Last updated: 2007-01-24 12:00 AM

This was my first triathlon, so I was too nervous to eat :(
My gear was packed, so I pretty much got myself and water bottles ready and headed out the door.
Arrived at transition area around 5:45 am. Plenty of time to get marked, set up area, and return to swim start.
I manged to eat half carton of yogurt and banana before the race.
Warm up included walk from parking lot, past swim start, to transition area and return to swim start.
