Swim
Comments: I've had a tendency sometimes to go out too hard at the beginning of the swim and kind of blow up. My mantra during the swim this time was "swim easy". I felt like my swim was strong, but I didn't push too hard because I didn't want to blow up. This was the first tri swim where I was aware enough of people in front of me to try to draft, and I did so for a few minutes at a couple different points. To keep balanced, I generally breathe to one side for a while, then switch to the other side. I noticed during this swim that I stayed on-course better breathing to my right. When brreathing to my left, I always moved more to the right and got off-corse then had to correct myself - adding a little bit of un-necessary time to the swim. Overall, I felt the swim went well for me. What would you do differently?: Try to figure out why I pull to the right when breathing on my left side & correct that. Maybe push a *little* harder on the swim. Transition 1
Comments: There was a pretty long way to go from the swim exit to my bike. I walked the first bit, then jogged. Got my suit caught on my heels -- AGAIN. What would you do differently?: Need to practice getting the wetsuit off more quickly. Need to practice T1 in general - I haven't put too much effort into it since I'm not all that fast overall, and have felt that until I'm faster, my transition times won't matter all that much in my overall time/rank. Bike
Comments: I felt good & strong on the bike. Like I said, I loved this course. I wasn't sure what kind of pace I would be able to keep since I knew the course was hilly. Overall, I was pretty happy with the bike leg. I almost always feel like I could have gone a little harder on the bike. What would you do differently?: Maybe push a little harder on the bike to gain some time, since I know my run will be SLOW! Transition 2
Run
Comments: As usual, the run was my limiter. I felt strong during the run, but just wasn't able to push up my pace. I walked through almost every aid station, which cost me some time, and I probably didn't really need to. What would you do differently?: Don't need to stop at every aid station. DO SOME RUNNING SPEEDWORK!! I seem stuck in this 10 mm pace rut and need to break out of it!! Post race
Warm down: Walking around, eating some food, a bit of stretching. What limited your ability to perform faster: Transitions could be faster, and my *#&^!*! SLOW RUN!!! Event comments: I thought this was a very well run and fun race. I would highly recommend it! Last updated: 2007-01-26 12:00 AM

Up early, had some breakfast (english muffin w/peanut butter & honey & a banana).
Not much warm-up due to logisitcs. Athletes were bused from transition to swim start, so all bike and running gear were at transition. Did a few minutes of swim warm-up & some stretching.
