Pre-race routine:

Started off with a health nut english muffin and a banana, left the house at 4:30 am.
Event warmup:

Stretch, walk.
Swim
  • 17m 22s
  • 880 yards
  • 01m 58s / 100 yards
Comments:

I was in Wave 5. Talked to a couple of ladies in from on me who were also doing their first tri. We all agreed that we wouldn't swim on top of each other. My goggles fogged up at the half way point. I really couldn't see much so I just kept swimming followed the crowd of swimmers ahead of me.
What would you do differently?:

Put de-fogger on my goggles.
Transition 1
  • 03m 55s
Comments:

Wow, I blew this transition. I don't know what I was thinking but I was taking my own sweet time!!
What would you do differently?:

Kick it in gear! Also, i won't wear gloves on the bike or socks. Also, I had to put my shirt on over my sports bra because I didn't have a belt for my number. I will bye a belt.
Bike
  • 56m 39s
  • 17 miles
  • 18.01 mile/hr
Comments:

Loved the bike ride. I actually did pretty good out of the gate and kicked it in at about the 8 mile marker. I slowed just slightly heading back to the reservoir but overall i was really happy with my ride.
What would you do differently?:

I wouldn't wear gloves, no need for them and they take to long to put on in T1.
Transition 2
  • 01m 48s
Comments:

A girl I knew was in the transition area and she felt like she need to "chat". Funny thing about it, she wasn't even in the race. I have no idea how she got in the transition area but I told her, "sorry, got to run".
What would you do differently?:

Quicker on getting out of my bike shoes and into my running shoes.
Run
  • 30m 40s
  • 3.1 miles
  • 09m 53s  min/mile
Comments:

Holy Cow! My legs felt like lead! My calves were a little tight this morning during stretching. When I started to run I could really feel them burn. I really felt like I was going super slow. I was actually really happy when i saw my posted run time and that i ran a little under a 10 minute mile.
What would you do differently?:

I would try to kick it in a little earlier rather then wait until half way back to the finish! I diffently need to do more Brix training.
Post race
Warm down:

Walked around and stretched. My wonderful husband was cheering me on the entire morning and we just walked and talked about my race. He was so proud of me.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Transition and running. Need to train harder.

Event comments:

They could have used more water stations on the run.
